BuddhiBox December 2015 Review
WOOT, it’s BuddhiBox unboxing day! New to BB? It’s catered to peeps who enjoy yoga, healthy living, and mindfulness. This subscription box is set up so that each month you’ll receive 4-6 thoughtfully curated products (samples and full sized items) from ethically-sourced and socially conscious companies. BuddhiBox also chooses a charity to donate proceeds to each month. This month, a portion of sales will go toward Sharing the Gift, a non-profit organization that supports Yoga classes and holistic healing modalities in Children’s Hospitals and other facilities.
There are different subscription options that vary in price and get cheaper with duration, but the low commitment month-to-month option is $30.95/month. The sample size is $11.95/month. Btw, you can peep my past BuddhiBox reviews here.
This month’s goodie box, which I’ll delve into in just a bit, also came with a BuddhiBox info card with a inspirational Lao Tzu quote on the back, a recipe for vegan Broccoli Hemp Potato Salad (yummers!!), and an instructional card for garland yoga pose (love saving these!)… so many cute lil’ extras!
December’s BuddhiBox included:
Real Beauty for a Cause Bath Bomb, $2.50 – I’m such a bath bomb freak! Even my son enjoys an occasional bath fizzy from time to time. 😉 I love how pure and simple this one is. It’s just epsom salt, baking soda, almond oil, citric acid, and essential oils (rose and geranium). Will be ploppin’ this gorgeous smelling bath bomb in mah tub with lil’ bub tonight!
Love ROWAN Antler Pendant with vegan “leather” cord in pouch,* $25 – This pendant was created to support Antlers for Orphans, a non-profit started by Love ROWAN (Rural Orphans & Widows AIDS Network). Along with the proceeds from this jewelry, ROWAN sells shed antlers in Uganda to fund education for local orphans. This necklace also helps the Kenyan widows who made it provide for their families. The little pouch the necklace comes in is super colorful and cute, too, and the combo would make such a lovely gift!
Hara Healing Shop Lavender Detox Scrub,* $15 – This scrub was less that half full (as seen in pic), but I’m assuming it’s because maybe it’s a sample size. Anyhoo, it smells incredible – like, I would wear this scent as a perfume. It’s made with pink Himalayan sea salt, organic sweet almond oil, organic hemp seed oil, and essential oils. I love that it has dried lavender buds sprinkled throughout, too. Scrubs are especially great in the winter for sloughing off dry, dead, crusty skin.
Raga Varnish Ganesha Nail Polish,* $12.50 – This is such a cool concept for a nail polish line: energize your chakras and balance your doshas with nail colors! LOVE IT!
I don’t know if y’all know this, but I’m half Indian, and Ganesha is one of my favorite Hindu gods. He’s identifiable by his large elephant head is known as the god of success and remover of obstacles. This Ganesha-inspired, gorgeous gray nail polish is 5-free, vegan & cruelty-free, paraben-free, and made in the USA. Expect to see swatches in an upcoming Mani Monday feature. Proceeds from the sale of Ganesha go to Elephant Family, an organization dedicated to saving elephants from extinction in the wild.
Buddha Teas 5th Chakra Tea, $11 – Buddha Teas are fun because they’re crafted with herbs that resonate with each chakra. The 5th chakra is the home of communication, creativity and self-expression, and their 5th chakra tea utilizes herbs specifically attuned to this energy center. It’s also infused with the essence of aquamarine – how cool is that? I love that their tea is organic, GMO-free, and packaged in bleach-free bags (←which is something that I’ve only recently learned about). This blend has a yummy, seasonal cinnamon-y flavor and it’s caffeine free, so you can get your sip on as late as you like.
Shea Natural Serenity Massage & Body Oil, $13.99 – Anything with Serenity in its name has me like :). I often use body oils after a nice relaxing bath before bed – they leave my skin feeling yummy and soft. This particular body oil has a calming blend of sweet almond oil, shea butter oil, with lavender and rosemary essential oils.
Manitoba Harvest Hemp Hearts – Did you know hemp hearts contain 10 grams of plant-based protein and 10 grams of omegas per 30 gram serving? Um, yeah! I always add these to my nutrient-dense morning smoothies – it’s the best way to ensure your’re gettin’ all the good stuff early in the day (kiddos love ’em, too). You can also add them on salads, cereal, yogurt, baked good, whatevah!
* = BuddhiBox faves
Overall impression: This box is valued over $70, which is pretty typical of BuddhiBox! All of the items will definitely get used, but I’m especially feelin’ the nail polish, jewelry + pouch, and yummy body scrub.
I highly recommend giving BuddhiBox a try – quality mindful products, amazing value. It would make a great gift for a friend, loved one, or yourself! They also have a fantastic online shop if there’s a specific item you’ve got your eye on.
Do you think you’ll try BuddhiBox? What’s your favorite vegan and cruelty-free subscription box?
Box was sent to me for review. Opinions are my own.
